How Many People Died at 9-11, Twin Towers, World Trade Center

The September 11 attacks were the greatest tragedy that has ever happened to the American people and on the American soil in its new history. The attacks are also known as the 9/11 attacks or the “Black September” as it was called in the newspapers.

On the morning of 11 September 2001, 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial jets. Two of the jets crashed into the twin towers of The World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon and the other (who was suppose to crash into the Pentagon) crashed in Pennsylvania after the passengers tried to regain control of the plain.

The grand total of people who died that day was 2 985 people (including the 19 terrorists).

In the plains, that crashed into the WTC, American Airlines Flight 11 there were 92 people including the five terrorists, and in American Airlines Flight 175 there were 65 people that died (also including the five terrorists).

There were 2 595 people in the WTC that day and near it from which

  • 1 402 people in Tower I;
  • 614 people in Tower II;
  • 658 people at one company;
  • 1 762 New York residents;
  • 647 New Jersey residents;
  • 344 NYFD firefighters and paramedics;
  • 23 NYPD police officers;
  • 37 port authority police officers.

Have in mind that there were also over 300 foreign citizens from over 50 countries that died in the attacks. And when you have in mind that over 1 600 lost their wife/ husband and over 3000 kids were left without their parent. This means that the 9/11 attacks affected not just the American people but the whole world. This announced the Great War against terrorism in order to prevent such future attacks. Nine years later neither the war nor the attacks have been stopped.
